Welcome to MindHive: The Special Education Learning Network

Join us in accelerating justice, accessibility, and excellence in special education.

About Us

MindHive is the FREE virtual learning community of MindWorks Collaborative. Visit us at mindworkscollab.org

We're on a mission to build a powerful learning network where diverse, justice-driven special education professionals connect, thrive and lead! We come together to engage with our best learning resource: one another.

This is a brave space for educators who want to unpack educational inequity by exploring the ways personal and systemic racism, ableism, and bias colonize the ways in which we identify, discipline, and place students, particularly BIPOC students, in the special education field.

We believe in breaking down silos and artificial barriers so that educators can benefit from each other's expertise, problem solve common challenges together, and to offer inspiration and support to thrive while doing this challenging and sometimes draining work.

Who Can Join?

The MindHive belongs to everyone who professionally works with students with disabilities, including:

  • Educators from all school systems (public, charter, non-public/private, residential treatment centers, etc)
  • Special and General Education Teachers, Paraeducators, Speech-Language Pathologists, School Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Pupil Personnel Workers, English Language Learner Teachers, Gifted and Talented Teachers, 504/Accessibility Leaders, Case Managers, Special Education Directors, Clinical Coordinators, MTSS/RTI Managers, etc.
  • The resources in this community are NOT prioritized for parents/caregivers doing remote instruction or homeschooling. However, we do have a separate Facebook group for families that find themselves looking for support during the transition to home-based instruction for students with disabilities.
  • Please Note: We center the experiences of Black, Latinx, and Indigenous special educators and related service providers but are open to collaborators of all identities.

Why Should You Join?

You should join this free community to:

  • get access to role-alike peers and mentors,
  • find opportunities and resources to grow your skills,
  • engage coaches and learning communities to deepen your practice,
  • celebrate and elevate the great work you and others have done,
